We assisted Remedy Entertainment Plc in negotiating a strategic partnership agreement with Annapurna Pictures. Under this agreement, Annapurna will finance 50% of the development budget for Control 2, while gaining the rights to adapt Remedy’s award-winning franchises, Control and Alan Wake, into film and television.

Remedy is an internationally successful video game company known for its storytelling and visually stunning games such as Control, Alan Wake, and Max Payne. This landmark deal allows Remedy to focus on game development while expanding its intellectual properties into new entertainment mediums. Remedy will retain full IP rights to both Control and Alan Wake and benefit from a greater revenue share from game sales after the initial investments are recouped. Conversely, Annapurna will receive a greater revenue share from the audiovisual productions, with options to produce television, film, and other audiovisual content.

Annapurna, founded by Megan Ellison in 2011, is renowned for producing original and immersive stories across film, interactive entertainment, television, and theater, with critically acclaimed works such as Zero Dark Thirty and the award-winning game Stray. This collaboration marks an exciting opportunity to push the boundaries of storytelling by integrating Remedy’s rich, immersive game worlds with other entertainment formats.

NORDIA’s team, led by Matti Kari and Tuomas Pelkonen from the Helsinki office, worked alongside Simon Pulman and Briana Hill from Pryor Cashman, ensuring the terms of the agreement supported Remedy’s creative vision while securing favorable financial conditions for future growth.
